My husband started going to his mother’s house suspiciously often. At first, I didn’t think much of it, but one day, out of simple curiosity, I decided to follow him 😲

From the outside, we always looked like the perfect couple. Friends said we were lucky to have found each other, that we had a calm and strong family. But like everyone else, we also had arguments, misunderstandings, and ordinary everyday problems at home. Nothing critical—until two years ago, when the situation suddenly began to change.
My husband started spending more and more time at his mother’s place. He said he was going there to help her with household chores. She lived alone, without a husband, on the outskirts of a small nearby town. At first glance, everything seemed quite noble. Helping your mother is considered almost sacred.
The town was very close, only about a twenty-minute drive away. But something felt strange. Before, my husband visited her once every couple of weeks, but over the last six months he started going there almost every day after work, and on weekends he could disappear from morning until evening.
My friends were the first to start asking questions.
— Don’t you think it’s strange that he goes to the neighboring town every day?
— Something is clearly not right.
— Yes, he’s hiding something from you. Go with him next time, visit your mother-in-law yourself.
That was when another idea came to my mind. I decided I would go—but without telling my husband. I would wait until he left and then follow him in my own car.
On Saturday morning, as usual, he said:
— See you this evening, my love. I’ll be back tomorrow.
— Okay, I replied automatically, while adding something completely different to myself: “No, my love. We’ll see each other today.”
My husband’s hometown was small. Everyone knew everyone there, and it was almost impossible to hide anything. I pulled up in front of my mother-in-law’s house and stayed sitting in the car. Inside the house were not only my mother-in-law and my husband. Next to him stood a young woman, holding a baby in her arms.
Later, the true horror was revealed. My mother-in-law, who had disliked me from the very first day and never accepted me as her daughter-in-law, had been persuading her son all this time to leave me and marry the neighbor’s daughter. And in the end, she succeeded.
It turned out that they had secretly gotten married, and my husband had never found the courage to leave me. Moreover, they already had a two-month-old child.
All that time, my husband had been living with two families and going to see them every day, hiding behind the excuse of taking care of his mother. He lied to me deliberately, day after day, under his mother’s pressure and for the sake of his own comfortable life.
That very day, I left him. Shortly afterward, I filed for divorce and never once regretted my decision.
