Every Sunday afternoon twelve year old Mia and nine year old Ben walked along our street carrying a black trash bag. Investigators searched the remote property and found forged identification papers and typed letters designed to create a false story about Laura leaving town. Rick had planned to control the narrative of their disappearance but failed to realize his stepchildren had dismantled his scheme. Authorities ultimately discovered that Rick had also been improperly monitoring the security systems of his clients.
