Your brain is wired to lock onto people first, then obvious shapes and contrast. That’s why you keep circling back to the two men, even when you’re trying not to.
This illusion works because of selective attention: you see what your brain decides is important, not what’s actually there. When you step back, tilt your head, or soften your focus, you temporarily break that pattern, allowing hidden shapes—
like the chicken—to pop out. Whether you spotted it in seconds or needed much longer, the real lesson isn’t about eyesight at all. It’s about how often the most obvious truths can hide in plain sight, just beyond where you’ve been trained to look.
