Gulf waters are on edge tonight. Iranian state-linked media and officials have claimed that a retaliatory strike targeted the USS Abraham Lincoln aircraft carrier amid rapidly escalating tensions in the region.
According to statements from Tehran, missiles were launched toward U.S. naval assets operating in the Gulf following earlier military operations involving U.S. and Israeli forces. Iranian sources described the action as a “direct response.”
However, as of this writing, U.S. defense officials have not confirmed any successful strike on the carrier. No official Pentagon statement has acknowledged damage to the vessel.
