Here’s An Update You’ll Love: Trump Just Kept Another Major Campaign Promise

President Trump ran on a handful of issues that were obviously important to a majority of American voters. Those issues included dramatically improved border security (check), expanding access to our own energy resources (check), ending the “woke” in government and our institutions (check), and making life more affordable (results not in yet).

He also ran on some secondary issues, like, “Yeah, that’d be great if he could get that done, too.” One of them was dismantling the completely politicized and hyper-woke Department of Education.

Check.

Trump did nominate an Education secretary. That would be Linda McMahon. But she took the job knowing that Trump’s plan was to disassemble as much of the agency as possible and “move education back to the states where it belongs.” And she has been 110 percent on board with assisting in that mission.

On Tuesday, the Education Dept. announced it would be downsizing considerably, moving several of its own divisions to other federal agencies:

The Department of Justice will take on enforcement of civil rights in education, while the Department of Health and Human Services will oversee special education, administration officials announced. With those moves, the Education Department has now carved away the vast majority of its functions for other agencies to handle.

The two Education Department offices involved — the Office of Special Education and Rehabilitative Services and the Office for Civil Rights — defend the rights of children with disabilities and those who experience discrimination based on race, sex or religion.

The DOJ says:

The Justice Department is proud to partner with @usedgov on civil rights enforcement, student privacy protection, and training and advisory services to support students and families.

Together, we are advancing a national commitment to ensuring every student is treated with dignity and has an equal opportunity to succeed both in the classroom and on the court or field.

Why does Trump want to shut Education down? Because the agency sucks. American primary education lags mightily behind the rest of the industrialized world, even though taxpayers have spent a fortune on the department. Says the White House: “The U.S. Department of Education (ED) has spent more than $3 trillion on the federal education bureaucracy since 1980 – with dismal results.”

Trump can’t completely eliminate the department because that will take an act of Congress. And we know there isn’t a single Democrat who will vote to do so because Democrat regimes use the Education Dept. to indoctrinate our children with left-wing dogma via mandatory policies. So he’s doing the next best thing – he’s dismantling as much of it as possible so that it’s essentially a shell of itself.

“The Trump Administration has been clear: as we scale back federal micromanagement when it hinders success, we are equally committed to bolstering the efficacy of federal oversight where it is essential,” McMahon said in a statement.

Here’s more:

Naturally, the left-wing hacks who dominate the teachers’ unions don’t like this one bit. Upon hearing McMahon’s news, they dredged up the typical lefty talking points about “poor underserved children” not being served anymore or some such:

Rachel Gittleman, president of the union that represents department employees, said the moves will create chaos for families, students and schools.

“This will leave our most vulnerable students and families who have been shut out of our education system without the services they need and without protection when they face discrimination,” Gittleman said in a written statement.

Indoctrination was never what the DOE was created to spread. Yet Democrats weaponize agencies to expand their power and ideology like it’s their job.

As for Trump, another campaign promise kept. Check.
